Fix Shopify Variant Button Logic - Shopify Partners only!

Our theme’s JavaScript that decides whether the “Add to Cart” button or an alternate, price-based button shows is misbehaving. The switch fails specifically when a customer moves between variants: the button simply doesn’t refresh, even though the price does.
I need you to step through the existing variant-handling code, pinpoint the root cause, and rebuild the logic so it works every time—without resorting to fragile work-arounds. Please keep the implementation clean, readable, and in line with Shopify best practices (Liquid, theme.js, Section rendering, DOM-ready events, etc.).
Deliverable
• A fully tested, production-ready fix that updates the price-based button correctly whenever a shopper selects a different variant, with no regressions to availability status or the notify-me app integration.
