custom Joomla component update

I have a custom-made component that integrate AcyMailing with Mosets Tree, it allows users to select which categories in Mosets to be notified when new items are added, notifications are sent by Acymailing component.
It has a front-end form to handle user selections from Mosets Tree categories.
It has a back-end to administrate users selections.
Acymailing was modified to handle this integration.
What I want:
- Copy and install the custom component and related to the new under development site to work on it, not on life site.
- Fix the front-end form, it is not recognizing logged in users after a template update I did.
- Copy the front-end form to create a new form to handle subscriptions to another section/group of categories in Mosets Tree.
- Check the possibility to remove the custom code from AcyMailing and make it run as a plugin, and if not possible update the modified AcyMailing from v.5.10.4 to the latest v.5.10.21 without losing modifications.
- Enhance the performance of the back end for the custom-made component, it is slow.
