Joomla Module Modification

We are running joomla 4.0.6 and need a module modification to the module "Articles - Newsflash" - also known as mod_articles_news in modules folder (I believe).
I will send you files and you can send them back to me for testing (no site access given for this).
The module now has various options (see images).
I would like to modify it so it when excluded current article is set to yes, the module skips the FIRST featured article (right now it only skips the first article).
