Add search query to URL

I have a joomla 3 site with a search and a gallery that has a independent search.
This concerns only the gallery's search.
The canonical URL shows the query string, but the query string should also be added to the URL.
Canonical-URL: www.domain.com/subfolder/gallery/search?sstring=keyword
The same should also be shown in the URL, so that the link can be shared and will be tracked in Analytics.
