I need an expert with ffmpeg

I use ffmpeg to transcode with the hls protocol ( m3u8 ). I use a html5 video player to play the video (without waiting for the complete trancode), it works well but the total duration of the video is not displayed correctly. the duration is added progressively. I would like to have the total duration of the video without waiting for the complete transcode
