Senior Ember.js Developer
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
We're a small team developing custom software for placing and managing orders for retail services, with more complex variants and workflows than traditional e-commerce platforms such as Squarespace and Shopify.
The main application currently in active development is a single-page app (SPA) that enables our customers to place complex orders for catalog photography services. The shopping cart builds a payload that gets pushed to an external point-of-sale (Shopify) for checkout. A future version of the app will allow customers to see their in-progress orders; manage shipping, revisions, and approvals; and communicate with our in-house fulfillment team throughout the order lifecycle.
We are looking for an expert in modern JavaScript (ES6+) with extensive Ember.js experience. You must possess a deep understanding of browser-based application architecture and be comfortable extending Ember.js applications beyond the "natural" capabilities of the framework. Or, alternatively, help us understand where we are reinventing the wheel and whether there's a more direct path to accomplish our goals. The screening process may include written questions and/or a small take-home challenge, and the application process will include an extensive on-camera interview with our director of engineering.
Your job responsibilities will include:
* Developing an Ember.js add-on that enables store operators to define services (i.e. product/service options and variants), store-specific cart and cart items, and other advanced features
* Working with the rest of the team to integrate the add-on with the in-house application described above
* Writing extensive unit tests and a dummy app that can represent a comprehensive reference implementation for other store operators
* Writing, modifying, and debugging JavaScript functions, tracked/computed properties, service objects, object models, component modifiers, etc.
* Writing, modifying, and debugging HTML/HBS-based templates that may include business logic
We are based in North America and our hours of operation are 8:30 AM–5 PM Central Time. We will primarily communicate asynchronously via Slack, with synchronous voice/video calls as necessary. If your availability overlaps with our hours of operation, that's a huge plus!
Our team also develops and manages cloud functions in AWS Lambda, a robust WordPress stack, a RESTful API and background job processing engine in Heroku, and more.
