Salesforce/aura help rewrite function to use JavaScript promises

Need someone to help me convert a JavaScript function in my code (aura component) to a promise. Right now I’m using setTimeout to manage the asynchronous nature of JavaScript and make code run in the order I want it to. I’m calling an external end point and storing the response in a field in the field of an object. I don’t think this should be too complicated for someone with experience/expertise in JavaScript. Possibility to work on future projects together after this. Thank you.
