Parse an XML file that is returned via a url using JavaScript- EFFICIENTLY

I have a url that returns an XML file.
and I have a JavaScript function that parses out the Authors name if the email address is present. I would like more efficient code because I need to run this routine about 500 times. The code that I'm current using is attached.
If you can make the code more efficient then please submit a bid. Please don't bid low and then ask "What's your budget" That only wastes my time as well as yours.
