Next.JS Mapping Microservice and React Native Webview Component
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am looking for a developer to create a Next.JS Mapping Microservice for data visualization purposes. The microservice should be able to map custom data, such as user-generated data. I am open to using either Leaflet or Google Maps API for the project. Ideal skills and experience for this job include:
- Strong proficiency in Next.JS, React, and Node.js
- Experience with mapping APIs, specifically Leaflet or Google Maps API
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques

Geospatial Data Visualization using Server Side Rendering
Objective:
The primary objective of this project is to develop a web application using Next.js that retrieves geospatial data from a user's SQL table and displays the data on an interactive map. The application will utilize latitude and longitude fields in the database to plot points on the map and color them according to a function of the other database fields. Additionally, the application will implement clustering techniques for higher performance and improved user experience when handling large datasets. A user should be able to submit data via a http endpoint to change the parameters for how to color each node.
*** We have project starter code for a next.js app using the leaflet library to cluster points so the project is mainly to implement a dynamic way of creating coloring functions based on the type of SQL table.
Scope:
1. Web Application Development
a. Develop a Next.js web application that serves as the user interface for the geospatial data visualization.
b. Implement a responsive design that adapts to various screen sizes and devices.
c. Integrate a mapping library to display an interactive map within the web application.
d. Utilize the latitude and longitude fields from the database to plot points on the map.
2. Database Integration
a. Establish secure connections to the user's SQL database.
b. Design and implement an efficient data retrieval mechanism to fetch geospatial data from the SQL table.
4. Data Visualization
a. Create a settings section to change coloring thresholds
c. Implement a popup to display additional information about each point when clicked or hovered.
5. Clustering and Performance Optimization
a. Implement a clustering technique (e.g., marker clustering or grid-based clustering) to group nearby points on the map for improved performance and user experience when handling large datasets
6. Extendable
a. Project should be able to display the map in a webpage and React-Native Expo project
Performance Goals:
a. Startup Time for the app should be less than 30s
b. Support SQL Tables with 3000 rows
c. Viewing additional info on a selected node should be responsive
Deliverables:
1. A fully functional Next.js web application that visualizes geospatial data from a user's SQL table on an interactive map with clustering capabilities for improved performance.
2. Source code for the web application, including all necessary components, libraries, and dependencies.
3. Documentation for the application.
Assumptions:
1. The user's SQL table contains fields “lat” and “lon”
2. The user has an active internet connection to access the web application and the required map provider services.
Not Included in Scope:
1. Importing or exporting geospatial data to/from the SQL table.
3. Integration with non-SQL databases or data sources.
4. Authentication of users
- Strong proficiency in Next.JS, React, and Node.js
