Need help to fix a call in javascript to an api due to CORS headers

Hi, I have setup a custom code on a shopify store that needs to get some data from an api through javascript, it is not working due to "has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource", we are adding that header on the call but still not working.
