Link Shortener with Control Panel
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
The objective of this project is to create a link shortener, following specific functions that the shortener must have for its correct operation.
This shortener requires a control panel with an email ID and password, which will allow us to create new shortened links, as well as see where the traffic comes from and the countries of said traffic.
The project must be written in Javascript, using “adminJS” for the control panel, which will facilitate the creation of the panel and must be connected to a database such as MySQL.
The freelancer will be provided with a Linux machine and a domain associated with said machine to facilitate their work.
The shortener works very simply, these are the concepts:
Domain: example.com (this is the base domain to shorten our links)
Custom link: ex: anabelle (this is the custom name of the link)
Short link: example.com/anabelle (This is the domain + custom name)
First link/page: This is the first link that the person will enter when accessing the link for the first time.
Second link/page: This is the link that will be entered if the person has accessed the first link less than 60 minutes ago.
Time link: This is the time that must pass between the first access of said person, to access the first link again. It will be 60 minutes by default.
Explanation:
The short link will be added to social network profiles, which if a person accesses the link for the first time, it will take them to the first link, then if said person presses the back button (on the mobile, such as safari), it will take them to the second link. If you click on the link again instead of clicking back, it will also take you to the second link, as long as it hasn't been 60 minutes since you first accessed the link.
Example videos of a website that uses this feature will be provided so that the freelancer can investigate how it is used and can implement a similar system.
There will also be a country exception filter where we can add that a specific country, globally, is redirected to a certain link.
To allow the creation, editing, deleting and viewing of statistics for said shortener, the freelancer must create a control panel, using “AdminJS” as a base to facilitate the work. In case the freelancer has experience in another panel and wants to offer his/her own, he/she can indicate it and it will be taken into account.
The AdminJS link is https://adminjs.co/, and you can visit its demo at https://demo.adminjs.co/
Within this panel, you should have a global main Dashboard with traffic statistics for all links in the last 30 days by default and total number of shortened links, a page called “Links” where all shortened links will be listed and we can see their analytics, edit, delete, duplicate or create a new link, a country exceptions page and an API page to create tokens to create links/get information externally.
When creating a new link, we will be asked for the following:
Shortened link name: example: alexandra
First link: example: example.com/example
Second link: example: freelancer.com/example
Link time: 60 minutes by default
Exceptions page / country filter:
On this page we can add country exceptions, for example, that visitors from the country: China, are redirected to a specific address, allowing us to indicate a URL for each country that we add as an exception.
In case there is an exception, for example, to China, all global visitors of any link will be redirected to a specific page.
When clicking on the exceptions page, it will take us to the list where the name of the country will appear, the destination URL, a counter of total visitors to whom this rule has been applied, allowing us to edit, delete and add a new exception for another country.
