Javascript responsive web applet for iOS devices

I have a crossword applet in jquery/javascript (examples at http://crossword.info/sample). On Android devices on small screens (and small desktop windows) when zoomed in, the current clue shows in a separate panel, (also visible with keyboard up) so the user can still solve the puzzle, as shown in attached image. This does not work on iOS/Safari, so this project is to modify the applet to also work well on iPhone devices - ie. responsively showing the grid and current clue as on Android, or some more general solution.
