Javascript / Ajax - detect change to a file and re-direct page

I need someone to write a very simple script.
It shows an HTML loading page (which I have already) and monitors a (single line) text file on the web server for a change. When a change is detected in the file then it re-directs to a different page.
This is kind of a good example but I'm not using JSON.
