Global Data Visualization WebGL Globe.
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Project Description:
The goal of this project is to develop an interactive WebGL globe that will be embedded on a web page. The globe will integrate various APIs to visualize data related to maps, vessels, flights, and weather. The project has an urgent timeline and must be completed as quickly as possible. Upon completion, the developer will provide the code so that it can be installed on the client's server.
This is what we have developed previously: https://webgl-heinrikh-fivr-globe.vercel.app/
Objectives:
1. Integrate maps from Resource Watch: (https://resourcewatch.org/).
a. Please display these maps on my globe:
i. Energy
o Global Power Plant Database (start with this one)
o Energy Consumption
o Reservoirs and Dams
o Shale Basins
o Solar Energy Potential
o Undiscovered Oil and Gas Resources
o Wind Energy Potential
o Access to electricity
ii. Food & Agriculture
o Employment in agriculture
o Predicted vulnerability of fisheries to climate change
o Maze, Rice, Soybean, and Wheat Yield Trends
o Climate change impacts on crop production
o Fishery production
o Soil erosion
o Global hunger index
iii. Climate
o Gridded carbon footprints
o Air quality: population exposed to unhealthy levels
o Greenhouse emissions by country and economic sector
o Temperature suitable for disease-carrying mosquitos
o Greenhouse gas emissions from croplands
o Projected Sea level rise
o Climate risk index
iv. Forest
o Forest and landscape restoration opportunity
o Forest sector economic contribution
o Tree cover loss
o Environmental performance index
v. Water
o Standard Precipitation Index
o Flood risk
o Aqueduct Groundwater table decline
o Eutrophication and hypoxia status
o Chlorophyll concentration
o Aqueduct drought risk
vi. Society
o Gini Index
o Gender Gap Index
o Gross domestic product per capita
o Urban population
o Global conflict risk index
o Urban population living in slums
o Economic capacity categorization of cities

vii. Oceans
o Social end economical dependence on coral reefs
o Seagrass
o Maritime Boundaries
o Ocean health index
o Fishing activity
o Trawling activity
viii. Cities
o Access to improved sanitation facilities
o Solid waste generation
2. Integrate Vessel API: Incorporate real-time vessel data on the WebGL globe, using the VesselFinder API (https://api.vesselfinder.com/docs/vessels.html).
3. Integrate Flight API: Visualize real-time airfreight flight data on the WebGL globe, using the Radarbox API (https://www.radarbox.com/api/documentation).
4. Integrate Weather API: Display real-time weather data on the WebGL globe, using the OpenWeatherMap API (https://openweathermap.org/api).
Project Requirements:
• Developer must be proficient in WebGL, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with the mentioned APIs is preferred.
• Developer must work in a restricted environment.
• Completion of the project within the agreed-upon timeline.
Project Deliverables:
1. A fully functional WebGL globe, integrating the specified APIs.
2. Clean and well-organized source code, including comments for readability and maintainability. (as short and concise as possible)
3. Documentation detailing the integration process for each API and any required API keys or authentication. (only if you have time)
Development Process:
• Review and understand the APIs to be integrated and their respective documentation.
• Set up a local development environment for creating and testing the WebGL globe.
• Integrate the Resource Watch maps onto the WebGL globe.
• Integrate the VesselFinder API to display vessel data on the globe.
• Integrate the Radarbox API to display commercial and airfreight flight data on the globe.
• Integrate the OpenWeatherMap API to display weather data
