HubSpot CMS Developer – Gated AI-Style Chat Interface (Gun Laws by State)
Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced HubSpot CMS developer to build a gated chat-style interface that allows users to query a structured database of U.S. gun laws by state.
Access to the chat interface must be gated by email capture (HubSpot forms / CRM). This is a one-off project, not an ongoing retainer.
The end result should feel like a simple, fast “chat bot” experience, but the responses should be pulled from pre-existing structured content, not generated AI.
Core Requirements
1. Gated Access (Email Capture)
User must enter an email address to access the chat interface
Email capture should:
Use HubSpot Forms
Create or update a contact in HubSpot CRM
Allow access immediately after submission (no email confirmation flow required)
2. Chat-Style Interface
Clean, modern chat UI embedded on a HubSpot CMS page
User can:
Ask questions like “What are the gun laws in Florida?” or “Can I carry in Texas?”
Select or reference a U.S. state
Interface does not need true conversational AI memory
Think: guided Q&A + smart retrieval, not ChatGPT clone
3. Content Source & Logic
Responses should pull from a structured data source (provided by us), such as:
JSON
HubDB
CMS-stored structured fields
Content is state-based and factual (no AI generation required)
Logic should:
Match user query to the correct state
Return the relevant pre-written content
Gracefully handle unclear or unsupported queries
4. HubSpot CMS Integration
Built entirely within HubSpot CMS
Acceptable tools/tech:
HubDB
HubSpot serverless functions (if needed)
Custom JS within HubSpot
No external SaaS tools unless explicitly approved
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Ability to suggest common questions (quick-reply buttons)
Basic query normalization (e.g., “FL” → Florida)
Simple analytics event tracking (queries submitted, states queried)
Experience building gated tools, calculators, or interactive content in HubSpot

Fully functional gated chat interface on HubSpot CMS
Email capture → immediate access flow
Admin-friendly data structure for adding/updating state law content
Basic documentation explaining:
How content is managed
How gating works
How logic matches queries to content
