Project Background
We're seeking an experienced freelance developer to help bring the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) Structured Report Generator into full production. This is a real-world web and database application developed for to streamline lung cancer screening workflows, structured reporting, authentication, multi-site management, and clinical decision support.

Our platform is containerized (Docker), with a Node.js/Express backend, MySQL database, and a static frontend using vanilla JavaScript and HTML/CSS. The core features are built, but we need a skilled developer to take it to the next level—optimizing deployment, debugging, and ensuring a seamless user experience as we transition to production use.

Your Tasks
Diagnose and fix bugs or unfinished edge cases in both backend and frontend code.

Harden user authentication, session management, and role-based permissions.

Assist in deploying the app on a production server or in cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Nginx).

Optimize performance, security, and database queries.

Polish the user interface so all admin actions, forms, and management tools work smoothly.

Provide technical recommendations for maintainability and scalability.

Collaborate directly with a clinical radiologist and technical owner passionate about high-quality development.

Key Skills Required
Full Stack JavaScript: Strong experience with Node.js/Express, vanilla JS, HTML/CSS.

SQL & Database Management: Proficient in MySQL/MariaDB, schema adjustments, query optimization.

Authentication & Security: JWT, bcrypt, role/permission-based access.

Docker & DevOps: Production Docker Compose, container healthchecks, Nginx reverse proxy setup.

Debugging & Troubleshooting: Rapid diagnosis/resolution of bugs, form validation, API response handling.

Frontend Integration: Good eye for UI flows, can debug or adjust pure JS+HTML without frameworks.

Documentation & Communication: Clean code, ability to document fixes and deployment steps clearly.

Nice to Have: Experience with medical software best practices, web accessibility, or previous bug-fixing of healthcare tools.
