Full-Stack Developer for GroceryDeal MVP Enhancement/Build
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m looking for a budget‑conscious, experienced full‑stack developer to audit and enhance the first iteration (MVP) of my GroceryDeal platform. The current MVP is built with Flask/Python and integrates with the Kroger API to aggregate grocery deals. However, the app currently only has a few screens and is facing issues with API endpoint configuration and token management (e.g., 404/403 errors and invalid tokens).
Project Goals for MVP:
Screens (3–4):
-Home/Search Page: A simple page where users can enter a product query and zip code.
-Results Page: Display aggregated grocery deals from the Kroger API (or fallback dummy data) based on the search query and location.
-Product Details Page: Show detailed product information including nutrition data and images.
-Blog Section: A minimal blog page with SEO content to boost organic traffic.
Core Issues to Resolve:
-Correct API endpoint configuration (avoid duplicate “/v1” segments).
-Ensure the token is refreshed properly and used in API calls.
-Improve error handling and logging for API responses.
-Validate that the user interface displays data correctly.
Responsibilities:
Code Audit & Enhancement:
-Review the current Flask-based code (GitHub repo provided) and document existing issues.
-Fix API endpoint and token management issues so that valid product and location data is fetched.
-Add appropriate error handling and logging.
MVP UI Implementation:
-Modify and/or build out the front end to create 3–4 clean screens (using Flask templates or a minimal -React approach, based on your recommendations).
-Ensure the UI is responsive and user flows are intuitive.
Project Management & Communication:
-Use my Git repository (with you added as an administrator) for all work.
-Set up a project board (e.g., Trello, Jira, or GitHub Projects) to track tasks and milestones.
-Provide detailed commit messages, regular status updates, and weekly progress reports.
Required Skills & Experience:
Full‑Stack Expertise:
-Proficient in Python and Flask; strong experience with RESTful API integrations and OAuth2 token workflows.
-Familiar with front‑end frameworks (React or similar) if a migration/enhancement is suggested.
API Troubleshooting:
-Demonstrated experience resolving 404/403 errors, handling token refresh, and ensuring correct API endpoint configurations.
Version Control & CI/CD:
-Excellent Git practices (branch management, commit hygiene, pull requests) and familiarity with deployment on Heroku.
Project Management:
-Experience using tools such as Trello, Jira, or GitHub Projects.
-Ability to provide clear time tracking and detailed reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Prior work on API-based e‑commerce or deal aggregation platforms.
-Experience with offshore projects and proven communication skills.
-Willingness to work on a milestone‑based contract (release funds only after milestone approval).
To Apply:
In your proposal, please include:
A brief description of your approach to auditing and enhancing a Flask/Python MVP with API integrations.
Examples of similar projects you’ve completed (especially dealing with OAuth2/token management and API troubleshooting).
Your preferred project management and Git workflow practices.
Confirmation that you are comfortable with an NDA and work‑for‑hire agreement.
A rough timeline estimate for delivering the MVP (e.g., within 4–6 weeks).
Additional Resources:
-GitHub Repo (for initial concept and basic API usage): https://github.com/mygrocerydeals
-Documentation & Wireframes: Attached files (e.g., wireframes and SOW drafts)
Next Steps:
1. I will review proposals based on your experience with API troubleshooting, full‑stack development, and proven Git/project management practices.
2. Selected candidates will have an initial interview (via Zoom/Skype/Slack) to discuss your approach, timeline, and communication style.
3. Work will be managed via milestone-based payments with clear deliverables (audited report, fixed endpoints, updated UI, tests, and documentation).
