Fishbowl Inventory plugin Startrack/Australia Post and Fastway Shipping

Fishbowl is a desktop based inventory system, not online.
Plugin core functions are freight cost calculation, connote, label creation and tracking.
1. Freight cost calculation
• Based on items on sales order in Fishbowl use
- weight of item
- dimensions of item
- Multiply by qty on sales order
- Use receiver address details on sales order
- Connect via API to Startrack, Australia Post and Fastway to get freight cost quotation based on the receiver address and product quantity on the sales order in Fishbowl.
• Write the total weight and volume of the order in a description line on the sales order in Fishbowl.
• Write the freight cost on a cost/unit price column on the sales order in Fishbowl.
• Refresh the sales order total
• (Some similar apps use a downloaded copy in a database of the inventory to retrieve weight and dimensions).
2. Connote and label creation
There may be several ways to achieve this
• Retrieve picked sales orders from the “Picking” screen in Fishbowl and process the shipping part in an external window/plugin
• Or:
• Retrieve picked sales orders either from the “Picking” screen or the “Shipping” screen and process on the “shipping” screen within Fishbowl
• I am unsure which method would be better
• We should have the option to manually change the box quantity shipped.
3. Tracking
• Maintain a searchable list either within Fishbowl or as per 2. In an independent window/plugin/database.
• Provide shipment details as in date of dispatch and receipt, number of items shipped, access link to “Proof of Delivery”
• Post dispatch and tracking details to the customers account panel on Woocommerce website.
4. Important information
• Products are sold in two different forms
• Box (always the same dimensions and weight per box for the same item, approximately 450 different box sizes and items exist). These are shipped as individual boxes, sometimes multiple boxes per consignment
• Pack (These items have weight and dimensions per item but all items have different dimensions and are shipped in mixed cartons together with other items of different weights and dimensions)
