Interactive Earth Day Installations – Gesture-Based & AI Experiences
? Project Overview:
We are seeking a skilled developer or development team to build a set of immersive, tech-enabled public installations for Earth Day. These interactive experiences are designed to educate, engage, and inspire environmental action through gesture control, face scanning, real-time simulation, and social integration.
The goal is to create emotional, impactful, and shareable activations that use modern technology to make sustainability personal and unforgettable.
?️ Scope of Work:
We are developing 2 core digital experiences (plus 2-3 simpler installations) as part of this project:
? 1. “You Are the Secret to a Cleaner Ocean” – Gesture-Controlled Experience
Large interactive screen or display.
Users wave their hands to clear plastic from a virtual ocean using a gesture sensor (e.g. Kinect or webcam with AI-based motion detection).
As plastic clears, educational facts are revealed.
Final screen shows their reflection in a clean ocean, followed by a message:
“What can make the difference? You can.”
User takes a pledge (e.g., “ditch plastic straws”) and a selfie.
Selfie + pledge are displayed on a nearby digital billboard.
? 2. “Your Future, If We Don’t Act” – Climate Mirror Simulation
Full-body scanner or webcam-based capture of the user’s face/body.
The system shows a visual timeline of climate-related health effects (skin, respiratory, aging) over 5, 10, 20, 40, 60+ years.
Uses AI or pre-rendered aging effects tied to real data (e.g. pollution, microplastics).
After the aging sequence, the visuals reverse to show a healthy self with the message:
“This future is still in your hands.”
User selects one of 5 eco-pledges and takes a photo.
Final image + pledge is added to a digital pledge wall or billboard.
⚡ Additional Simple Installations:
We’d also like help creating 1–2 lower-tech yet high-impact public engagements:
Billboard Snap: QR code → upload selfie → select pledge → real-time display of user pledge on a digital screen.
Hold Your Breath Booth: A booth where users try holding their breath for 9 seconds, followed by a fact reveal about air pollution (e.g., “Every 9 seconds, a child dies due to air pollution – WHO”).
Cup Wall Installation: A physical/digital hybrid wall of cups labeled with contaminants. QR code takes users to a digital pledge and display board.
? Technology Requirements:
Experience with gesture recognition (Kinect, OpenCV, AI/ML-based hand tracking, etc.)
Proficiency in real-time 3D rendering or animation (Unity/Unreal/WebGL)
Skills in facial recognition / body scan simulation (for AI-aging)
Backend integration for user data capture, selfie display, and pledge management
Display or billboard integration for live visuals
Mobile-responsive or tablet-based dashboard for onsite staff

Fully working prototypes/installations for each experience
Admin dashboard for pledge and selfie management
Integration with large screen or digital billboard output
Minimal touch or touchless UX (important for public installations)
