Develop Custom Map Poster Creator for Shopify Webshop

Job ID: 31314405

Budget: €750 – €1,500 EUR

We are looking for a developer who can bring our webshop to the next level by developing a custom map creator for our Shopify store. To get an idea what we are looking for please have a look at webshops such as https://craftoak.com/, https://www.mapiful.com/ and https://www.mapify.cc/. We will distinguish ourselves based on the map content that will be available for our customers.
The used library is open for discussion. Commonly used are the JavaScript libraries Mapbox GL JS and leaflet JS.

The custom map creator should have at least the following functionality:
- Enter a city/address in search bar and zoom to extent of location in the map
- Select map style from pre-sets (4 styles). Styles will be designed and provided by us.
- Select layout of the map from pre-sets, such as location of titles, frames around map etc (4 styles)
- Select map orientation (portrait, landscape)
- Personalize titles and subtitles
- Select from pre-set materials (poster, dibond, acrylglass)
- Select from pre-set sizes (which differ per material). Update preview of the map after size has been changed.
- Select hanging systems for certain materials
- Update prices based on chosen material, size and options
- Generate an order from the custom designed map, store the order in Shopify and let the customer pay
- Generate image file of exact layout of the map as designed by the customer which will be used to print the poster
- Administrator should have possibility to generate maps without creating an order (We like to use the tool to make a map of for example New York and add it as a standard product)
- Work well on both desktop, tablet and smartphone. On Smartphone the map should stay visible as much as possible, so no endless scrolling up and down to see the effect of a change on the map.

Optional
- Let customer add an icon on the map
- Create a map with a route (for example flights from city to city, or a road trip)

The design, processing and hosting of the map styles will be discussed. This also depends on the chosen JS library. We might do this part by our own, but if you have experience with Linux VPS, PostGIS and Geoserver you might contribute to this part as well. For now you don't have to take this into account in your proposal.

If after reading this project description you feel just as exited as we are, we would love to hear from you!
