Comment someone else's code and give advice for refactoring

Rather than writing the full shim library OR fixing the app, just do the following:
In each JS file in the /src/ directory some Chrome API functions are called. The task is to describe, as comments, what these Chrome methods are doing and what a javascript replacement would have to do to replace the functionality. You do NOT need to provide the code.

I probably understand enough javascript to implement the changes over time, but I don't have time or interest to learn the chrome api which is something I will never use.
