Code Review, Refactoring, and Sideload Setup for Pre-Written Office.js Word Add-in

Job ID: 40550131

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Word Add-in developer (Office.js) to review, clean, optimize, and sideload a pre-written application codebase generated via an advanced AI code editor. The core frontend user interface, layout manifests, and primary logical workflows are fully drafted, but the local development server setup is currently experiencing environment dependency errors (specifically failing on node-gyp / Python compilation via concurrently).

This project is structured as a technical audit and stabilization sprint to ensure the application codebase is enterprise-grade, clean, and ready for long-term scalability.

Scope of Work & Deliverables:
1. Dependency Strip & Refactor: Clean out all bloated developer package environments from the package.json file. Provide a streamlined, zero-configuration local server setup using native Node.js pathways.
2. Manifest Stabilization: Integrate a valid, unique GUID and verify the schema layout so Microsoft Word registers the add-in seamlessly.
3. Local Sideloading Setup: Conduct a live screen-share session to successfully sideload and deploy the add-in onto my Windows testing machine, allowing me to fully test the interface functionality firsthand.
4. Code Segmentation & Documentation: Break the pre-written code down into clean, explicit, isolated architectural chunks (e.g., UI Event Handling, Document Interception, External API Parsing).
5. Heavy Inline Notes: Provide comprehensive, plain-English inline comments (//) explaining what each modular chunk executes, ensuring any future programmer can easily read, modify, or add features to the codebase without friction.

Application & Contract Requirements:
- Vetting Interview: Shortlisted developers must participate in a brief video interview to confirm technical competency and clear communication skills.
- Custom NDA Requirement: You will be required to sign our company's private Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and Intellectual Property (IP) Assignment contract before files are shared.
- Milestone Escrow: This project is funded at a fixed price of $700, broken into strict verification milestones.
- Scalable Pay Structures: Please note that additional requirements, feature additions, and ongoing maintenance pay structures will be negotiated and extended through separate milestones based on the results of our initial testing phase.
