erequisite: CMST 385. Continuation of the study of web design, tools, and technology principles. The objective is to create a website promotion strategy, with search engine optimization, and produce a professional website that incorporates multimedia and scripting. Topics include website marketing, web analytics, performance, privacy, and security issues related to website production. Focus is on Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML), cascading style sheets (CSS), and JavaScript. Students may receive credit for only one of the following courses: CAPP 386 or CMST 386.
Course Introduction
CMST 386 builds upon the tools, protocols, and resources necessary to support web technologies and associated terminologies covered in CMST 385. The course covers website marketing, effective web form design and validation, evaluation of performance and security issues, and incorporation of multimedia.
This course uses a hands-on approach to website marketing and production, HyperText Markup Language (HTML5), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript are used throughout. The final project consists of the development of a website promotion strategy and the production of a professional website that incorporates multimedia and web forms, and adheres to established standards.
Note: This course is identified as a prerequisite for another course at UMGC. Successful completion of this course is required to advance to the next course in a sequence. A grade of Withdrawal (W), Failure for non-attendance (FN), Failure (F) or Incomplete (I) will not meet a prerequisite requirement. You may be barred from enrolling in or may be removed from courses for which you do not have the necessary prerequisites. Keep track of your progress in this course.
