Node.js / Java backend developer

Carcloud.com is an eCommerce platform for Car Rental companies.

Over the last 10 years we have grown to run websites and eCommerce for some of the world's biggest car rental brands. Our headquarters are in Melbourne, Australia and our team is distributed across the world.

Our infrastructure runs on AWS and we are about to begin a project to upgrade our core API, which is responsible for real-time communication with car rental reservation software platforms.

To help deliver this work, we are looking to hire a mid-to-senior Node.js developer with Java background. Your role would be to migrate our current API to Node.JS (with Typescript), where you'd be responsible for technical design, documentation, implementation, and roadmap for the project. Until the full migration is complete, you'd also be responsible for maintaining the current Java API by adding minor features and fixing bugs. This maintenance should be minor, with 90% of your time on the new API development.

This is an exciting role for someone that enjoys both technical design and writing quality code. You must be able to manage your time and be comfortable working remotely.

Requirements:
- 2+ years of Java experience
- 3+ years of Node.js experience
- Typescript experience
- Good communication skills

Nice to have:
- Terraform/AWS knowledge
- Jira and Bitbucket experience
- Remote working experience
