Java template codes for input of chinese characters and saving in mySQL

I have a staff maintaining an English software. A request recently arises for us to enhance the software so that it can accept chinese inputs. As my staff is not familiar with such internationalization work, I am posting a request for relevant Java template codes (and libraries, if needed) for him to integrate. Thanks.
