Help build a minecraft mod for an in-game guide
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
The goal is the creation of data-driven in-game documentation that can be used by other mods to create "guide books", similar to e.g. https://github.com/VazkiiMods/Patchouli, however it should feature a 2D overview of available topics to allow easily organizing the contents (see attached image below).
A basic implementation of the 2D overview already exists, the concrete goals for this project are:
- Add an extensible, data-driven page rendering similar to Patchouli (data driven loading logic is already complete), for now with only text-based pages with simple formatting (e.g based on simplified markdown, or bbcode or any other simple markup langauge).
- bold, italics, underline, ordered list, unordered list, clickable links, colored text
- Refine the 2D overview page (mainly, iron out any kinks we find)
Requirements:
- Experience with Java
- Experience with Gradle (optional, but a plus)
- Ideally, experience with modern MinecraftForge (1.18.x) - this is the modding framework in use.
You will not be alone in working on this - I created a basic implementation and I am experienced in MinecraftForge, so I can assist you in tough spots - but I lack the time to work on the full project.
If this first step works out, further features are planned as follow-up projects (minecraft recipe rendering, custom page types for modders, multiblock rendering, ...)
