Correct Alfresco User Profile Permissions Issue
Budget: €8 – €30 EUR
Alfresco Developer Needed: Fix User Profile Editing Permissions
Project Title: Alfresco Share Profile Editing Fix (Non-Admin Users)
Project Description:
We are seeking an experienced Alfresco developer to resolve a critical permissions issue in our existing Alfresco installation Alfresco Community 6.1.0
Currently, only users who are members of the Administrators group are able to successfully edit their own "My Profile" details (name, email, etc.) within Alfresco Share. When a standard user attempts to edit their profile, the changes are either rejected, or the "Edit Profile" button/functionality is inaccessible/fails.
The Problem:
Standard behavior required: Any authenticated user should be able to view and modify their own personal profile information.
Current behavior: Profile modification is restricted exclusively to members of the ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS group.
Key Requirement & Context:
Customizations Suspected: Our Alfresco installation has undergone several customizations and module deployments in the past. We strongly suspect that this profile editing restriction is a result of a misconfigured customization, a forgotten configuration file override (e.g., in share-config-custom.xml), or an incorrect permission definition related to the "My Profile" component or the underlying user WebScript.
The successful candidate must be proficient in troubleshooting custom Alfresco Share configurations, WebScripts, and security policies.
Scope of Work:
Analyze and Diagnose: Investigate the Share configuration files (specifically those related to user profile editing and permissions).
Identify the Root Cause: Pinpoint the custom configuration or code that is overriding the default user permissions for self-profile editing.
Implement the Fix: Adjust the necessary XML configuration, WebScript, or component code to restore the standard functionality, allowing all authenticated users to edit their own profiles.
Testing: Verify the fix across multiple non-admin user accounts.
Documentation: Provide a brief explanation of the cause and the steps taken to resolve the issue.
Requirements:
Proven experience with Alfresco Content Services (ACS) or Alfresco Community Edition.
Strong knowledge of Alfresco Share customization (Aikau, WebScripts, configuration files like share-config-custom.xml).
Expertise in debugging Alfresco permissions and security issues.
Ability to work remotely and communicate effectively.
Please provide your estimated hours/cost for this fix and state your experience with similar Alfresco customization troubleshooting.
