Title: Senior Java Backend Developer for E-commerce Platform Refactor (4-Month Contract)

We’re seeking a highly skilled Java backend developer to refactor and modernise an existing PHP-based e-commerce web application. The platform integrates typical e-commerce components including a front-end, CMS, and ERP/database system.
Project Details:
Duration: 4 months (starting end of this month)
Scope: Refactor a monolithic PHP e-commerce platform into a modern, scalable Java-based backend
Role: Solo developer (must be self-sufficient, no hand-holding)
Requirements:
5+ years of backend development experience (Java preferred)
Strong understanding of e-commerce architecture
Experience with refactoring legacy systems
Familiarity with CMS/ERP integrations
Bonus: Experience migrating PHP systems to modern tech stacks
You’ll have direct access to the codebase and a few onboarding sessions with the founder to align on project milestones and expectations. Clear communication, reliability, and ownership are key.
