JAPANESE IN-COUNTRY CONTENT REVIEWER - Ongoing
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for a native freelance Japanese content reviewer, who is based in Japan and to join the in-country review team of one of our largest clients.
The client is a globally recognized innovator in contemporary interior furnishings who produces both creative and technical content in consumer goods products and furnishings marketing.
THE ROLE
The In-Country Content Reviewer works on behalf of the client to ensure that the terminology and style of Japanese translated content is consistent with the client’s brand guidelines. The goal is to have the translation read like a natural piece of content created by the brand for the local market. Approved materials are used to update translation memories prior to final delivery to the client. This provides direct feedback for continuous improvement to the translators and editors involved in the initial localization effort.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Go through training with the client to ensure a deep understanding of the client brand, style, and terminology preferences.
Using Wordbank’s online review software, assess Japanese translated files following standard rating criteria to make sure the translation works in the local market according to the client’s brand standards.
Help select preferred Japanese linguists for the client team, if needed.
Hold ad hoc calls where needed with the linguists and project managers to go over onboarding or feedback.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
You’ll have…
3+ years experience in content review, copyediting, or other similar experience
Native Japanese competency, with fluency in English (both written and spoken)
Knowledge and experience of consumer goods sector, deep subject matter expertise in interior design and furnishings terminology and creative marketing content.
YOU ARE…
Meticulous, with high attention to detail.
Currently living in Japan, with a deep understanding of language and cultural nuances.
Able to prioritize and manage multiple project assignments at one time
Able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines
An excellent communicator, able to articulate content changes in both Japanese and English and give feedback on why they are important.
COMPENSATION & TIME COMMITMENT
$35-40/hour depending on experience.
You’ll contract with Wordbank but will work directly with the client
Initial training with client 1-3 full-time days.
Weekly, we have around 3,000-4,000 words about ergonomic furniture that needs to be reviewed after translation and editing. We’re estimating this could be around 10 hours per week to start but that could change with client needs.
