Telepresence Rock Hunting on Lake Superior
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
This is a bit complicated so I will explain it thoroughly. I need someone in the Lake Superior area who has access to the beaches of Lake Superior. I have an immese longing to look for rocks on the beaches of Lake Superior (I'm a geologist) but it's pretty expensive to get to Lake Superior from where I am. What I need, is for someone to go to a Lake Superior beach, attach a livestream camera to their head (or just hold the camera) so I can see the rocks on the beach. Then, we'll be on audio call, and I will direct you to go in different directions or get closer to a rock. Here is an example of what this might look like:
Me: "Can you walk along the beach close to the water and keep the camera facing the rocks?"
You: "yeah bro"
---After a few minutes of you gliding the camera...---
Me: "Wait wait I think that's one of the rocks I'm looking for!! Do you see that one that looks kinda reddish?"
You: "Uh this one?"
Me: "Uhh a bit to the left of the one youre pointing at"
You: "Is it this one?" --Points to the rare rock---
Me: "Yes thats it!! Can you pick it up and show it to me?"
You: "Yeah" ----you bring the rock up to the camera----
Me: "Omg yeah thats what im looking for!!! Can you put it in your pocket?"
You: ---puts in pocket---
Essentially, that would continue for maybe an hour or less. The person I hire should probably have a decent level of patience since a lot of the interactions might go like this too:
Me: "Can you bring that blueish rock up to the camera?"
You: "this rock?"
Me: no a bit further left
You: This one?
Me: "A bit further"
You: "This one?"
Me: "a bit further"
You: "this one?"
Me: "Yeah!"
You: ---brings it up to the camera--
Me: "aw that's a similar type of rock but not what I'm looking for. Just leave it."
So on and so forth.
At the end of this rock hunting adventure, you will take the rocks we found and ship them to me. I will completely cover all the shipping costs. If you're interested, contact me and we can figure out how to make it work best. I'll pay from $30-$90, (including shipping) but that could change depending on the length of time we spend rock hunting, or if we don't find anything to ship to me. This is a one time job, but I may hire again later in the year at some point. I'll attach an image of the rocks I will be looking for, so you can better understand what I mean by "looking for rare rocks." Also, I'm just posting this to see if someone is even interested. The actual time of the job may take place around June when it's warmer so you won't freeze :) I should also mention that the reason I'm even creating this job is because the rock I'm looking for (lake Superior agate) can only be found around Lake Superior.
