Build an app
Budget: $20,000 – $50,000 AUD
I have developed content for a maths app based on the new Australian Curriculum. I am a current high school maths teacher so know exactly what would be useful to lift numeracy standards and have contacts to get it up and running in lots of schools. There is nothing like this for use in Australian high schools. The initial target group would be Years 7, 8 and 9. There are over 900 000 students in Australia in Years 7-9. A 4 year goal would be to get at least 10% signed up (hopefully more). Goals would be:
Year 1- trial in schools so that data can be collected to show improvement
Aiming for 10 000 at $8 each = $80 000
Year 2- aiming for 25 000 at $10 each = $250 000
Year 3 - aiming for 50 000 at $12 each = $600 000
Year 4- aiming for 90 000 at $12 each = $1 080 000 (this is roughly 10% of eligible students)
Features I need are:
20 questions a day, from 20 different topics in a user friendly format
Based on the success of the user, the app would take them to different questions
Would need the ability for the user to answer in numbers, fractions, letters, drop down menus, coordinates
Have templates for 2D shapes, 3D shapes etc for measurement questions
Be able to be set up so that schools can have access to their students results
Reports would be available to show progress
Able to be accessed from tablets, Macs and PC's
I would consider the following two options:
Option A
Pay for site to be set up, managed and maintained with the business being just in my name.
Option B
Hand over a percentage of the business in exchange for having the app developed, managed and maintained. I would write all material and market it to schools.
