School-Family Communication App
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m ready to commission a straightforward yet polished communication hub that families can download on both iOS and Android. The goal is to bring every update from our education program—alerts, calendar events, resources, forms, staff contacts, volunteer sign-ups, and social news—into one branded app so parents no longer rely on scattered links or handouts.
Here’s the flow I have in mind.
Public experience
• Families launch the app and immediately see announcements, urgent alerts (via push notification and icon badge), upcoming events, and quick links to frequently used resources.
• A clean, school-branded interface; nothing flashy, just clear navigation modeled on the wireframes I’ll share.
Protected staff experience
• An admin area reachable with secure login where authorized staff can add or edit any public content without calling a developer. I’m already structuring collections in Firebase and can give you the schema, so you’re not starting from zero.
Publishing & maintenance
• You’ll handle initial App Store and Google Play submissions under our org accounts, walking me through provisioning profiles, screenshots, and any required edits.
• After launch I should be able to roll minor text/image changes through the admin panel, while you remain available (under a separate agreement) for version upgrades or complex feature requests.
Tech preferences
• Firebase is set up for auth, data, and push messaging; feel free to recommend additional libraries or patterns that keep the codebase maintainable.
• Native, cross-platform, or hybrid is open for discussion—the priority is a smooth, dependable experience on both platforms and quick turnaround on small content tweaks.
Acceptance criteria
1. App passes App Store & Play Console review.
2. Push notifications and badge counts work reliably on iOS and Android test devices.
3. Admin panel edits reflect instantly (or near-instantly) in the live app without resubmission.
4. Source code and build instructions are provided on project hand-off.
