Minor alteration to a simple iOS app
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Hi, I’m not a programmer. I’m a doctor and I work with children who have difficulties learning to read (Dyslexia). To help these children I’ve had an iOS app developed, it’s called Read-it, it’s free and on the app store. It would be sensible to look at the 1 minute video.
If a child with dyslexic has difficulty reading a word on an iPad screen then all they need do is touch the word and it will be immediately highlighted and read aloud. This will enable the child to carry on reading without hesitation and helping them more easily understand the text.
The app can also send a list of the words asked to be read aloud to be emailed to the child, parent or teacher to enable the child practice words they find difficult.
This is the problem. The current app works well in terms of reading words and emailing a list of words.
This is the problem.
To get the text the child wants to read onto the screen is proving too difficult for children with dyslexia (and many of their parents and teachers) and I need this to be very simple.
1. The current version will work mainly on PDFs and I’d like it to work on other files, particularly Kindle books and eBooks.
2. Although it will ask for a URL address to put websites on the screen I have never got this to work.
3. When the app is working with a PDF then when a word is touched a pop-up section appears which is distracting and I’d like this to be stopped.
4. I have the source code for the app.
