iOS In-App Purchases & Subscriptions with Promotional Codes (React Native Expo)
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced iOS developer to implement Apple Auto-Renewable Subscriptions, including Promotional / Offer Codes, and integrate them into an existing React Native Expo application (iOS only).
The app already includes frontend authentication using Apple / Google / Email, and backend APIs for token verification.
There is no traditional user registration or user database on the backend.
This project requires end-to-end ownership, including App Store Connect setup, Expo integration, receipt validation, and promo code support.
Scope of Work
1. App Store Connect Setup
You will be responsible for:
Creating and configuring:
Auto-renewable subscription group(s)
Subscription products (monthly / yearly, etc.)
Setting:
Pricing tiers
Free trials
Introductory offers
Configuring Promotional / Offer Codes:
Subscription offer codes (not generic coupons)
Eligibility rules (new users, existing users, expired users)
Creating and managing:
Sandbox test users
Providing clear documentation of all App Store Connect configurations
2. React Native Expo (iOS) Integration
Implement subscriptions using:
expo-in-app-purchases OR
react-native-iap (with Expo Dev Build / EAS)
Implement:
Fetch available subscriptions
Purchase subscriptions
Restore purchases
Handle promotional / offer codes redemption
Handle all purchase states:
Success
Failure
Pending
User cancellation
Ensure compatibility with:
Expo managed workflow or Expo dev builds
iOS 15+
3. Promotional / Offer Codes Implementation
You must:
Configure Apple Subscription Offer Codes in App Store Connect
Implement redemption via:
Apple’s native offer code redemption flow
Ensure:
Correct entitlement unlocking after code redemption
Promo codes follow Apple policies (no external coupon logic)
Test promo codes using:
Sandbox accounts
App Store Connect test codes
Document:
How promo codes are created
How they are tested
Any limitations imposed by Apple
4. Receipt Validation & Backend Subscription Logic
The backend does not store users traditionally.
Expected flow:
App sends purchase receipt / transaction details to backend
Backend validates receipts using:
Apple App Store Server API
Backend determines:
Active subscription
Expiry date
Subscription plan
Promotional offer usage
You must:
Design a secure receipt validation strategy
Handle:
Renewals
Expiry
Cancellations
Promo code redemptions
Explain how:
Subscription state is determined without user accounts
Entitlements are maintained across reinstalls
5. Edge Cases & Apple Compliance
Handle:
App reinstall
Device change
Restore purchases
Ensure:
Apple App Store Review compliance
Required subscription disclosures
No policy violations related to promo codes or payments
6. Documentation & Handover
You must provide:
Setup documentation (App Store Connect + code)
Testing instructions using sandbox users
