CodeComply Mobile App Development (iOS)
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
Project Overview:
The CodeComply mobile app on AppStore is to be developed as an extension of the existing web application (www.codecomply.com.au). The app will replicate the full functionality of the website, providing users with the ability to conduct property inspections via their mobile devices while maintaining integration with the existing MySQL database. Users will register on the web application but will perform inspections and access data seamlessly through the app.

Scope of Work:
1. General Requirements:
• Platform: The app must be developed for both iOS and Android platforms using a cross-platform framework (e.g., Flutter or React Native).
• Database Integration: The app will use the same MySQL database as the web application.
• Backend Language: Maintain compatibility with the current Perl/CGI backend.
• User Registration: Users will register on the web application and log in to the app using the same credentials.
• UI/UX Design: Ensure a user-friendly interface, optimized for mobile use, while maintaining the branding consistency of the CodeComply website.

2. Core Functionalities:
2.1 User Authentication:
• Login/Logout: Allow users to log in using credentials registered on the web app.
• Session Management: Implement secure session handling with token-based authentication.
2.2 Dashboard:
• Replicate the web app’s dashboard to display:
o Links to start a new inspection.(Phase 1)
o User profile information. .(Phase 2)
o List of previous inspections conducted by the user.(Phase 2)
2.3 Conduct Inspections: (Phase 1)
• Allow users to select property categories for inspection.
• Implement guided workflows for line-by-line inspection of property elements:
o For example, users should inspect plasterboard defects across the entire property before moving to the next defect type.
• Enable photo uploads for each inspection item.
• Provide tooltips or information bubbles for defect definitions, referencing the Standards and Tolerances issued by the Victorian Building Authority.
• Save progress locally in case of connectivity loss, with auto-sync functionality when the connection is restored.
2.4 Inspection History: (Phase 3)
• Display a detailed list of completed inspections.
• Allow users to:
o View and edit saved reports.
o Export reports as PDFs.
2.5 Push Notifications: (Phase 3)
• Notify users of:
o Incomplete inspections.
o Updates or changes to Standards and Tolerances.
2.6 Feedback and Support: (Phase 4)
• Provide a feedback form to report issues or suggest improvements.
• Include a contact support feature with email integration.

3. Technical Requirements:
3.1 Backend Integration:
• Use API endpoints to connect the app with the existing Perl/CGI backend.
• Ensure seamless data flow between the app and the MySQL database.
3.2 Database:
• Use the existing MySQL database for:
o Storing user credentials.
o Managing inspection data.
o Recording user actions and updates.
3.3 Security: (Phase 6)
• Ensure secure communication using HTTPS with SSL encryption.
• Implement data encryption for sensitive user data.
• Use token-based authentication for API calls.
3.4 App Performance:
• Optimize the app for low latency in data retrieval and submission.
• Enable offline mode with data synchronization.
________________________________________
4. Design Requirements:
• User Interface: (Phase 1)
o Simplified navigation tailored for mobile.
o Maintain visual consistency with the CodeComply website.
o Use responsive design principles for various screen sizes.
• User Experience:
o Provide an intuitive step-by-step process for inspections.
o Offer real-time feedback and validation for user inputs.
________________________________________
5. Testing and Quality Assurance: (Phase 4)
• Conduct rigorous testing for:
o Cross-platform functionality.
o Backend and database integration.
o Usability and responsiveness on various devices.
• Include user acceptance testing with a focus group of existing web app users.
________________________________________
6. Deliverables (I will provide)
• Fully functional mobile application for iOS and Android. (we will pay per screen). Small milestones
• Documentation:
o App user manual.
o API documentation.
o Deployment and maintenance guide.
• Post-launch support for bug fixes and minor updates (define a support timeline).
________________________________________
7. Timeline and Milestones:
1. Week 1-2: Project kickoff, requirements gathering, and design.
2. Week 3-6: Development of core functionalities and backend integration.
3. Week 7-8: UI/UX refinement and testing phase.
4. Week 9: User acceptance testing.
5. Week 10: Launch and post-launch support.
________________________________________
8. Budget Considerations:
• Specify hourly rates or fixed costs for development.
• Include costs for app store publishing (Google Play and Apple App Store).
________________________________________
9. Future Enhancements: (Other considerations)
• AI-assisted defect identification using image recognition.
• Multi-language support.
• Advanced analytics and reporting for users.
