Replace capacitorjs 2 for capacitorjs3

We have a pwa.
We initially wrapped it in capacitor.
We have not really used the capacitor api beside the storage api.
We have previously installed a splashscreen and icons in xcode but since that time we stopped touching capacitor as our main goal was to make the pwa first before making it work on ios/android.
We now need:
1. Remove capacitorjs2
2. Install capacitorjs3 from fresh install
3. Install splashscreen (make request of assets to us following best practice - you are the expert)
4. Install icons (make request of assets to us following best practice - you are the expert)
We are react native devs and pwa devs. We have used phonegap/cordova years ago, as we also have used ionic a little bit. However we have not recently used capacitor a lot beside the time we installed it the first time. We are looking for recommendations on best practice with capacitorjs.
