Part-Time Automotive E-commerce Accountant (20 hrs/week)

We are a growing online automotive parts business specializing in both custom-designed manufactured products and procured resale items. After one successful year in business, we're experiencing steady growth across multiple sales channels and need an experienced accountant to organize and manage our financial operations.
Position Overview
We're seeking a part-time accountant (20 hours per week) to take full responsibility for our bookkeeping and financial management. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with e-commerce accounting, multi-channel sales platforms, and manufacturing cost accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Daily/Weekly Tasks
• Manage and reconcile transactions from Shopify, Amazon, and eBay through A2X connectors
• Maintain accurate QuickBooks Online records and chart of accounts
• Process accounts payable and receivable
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
• Monitor cash flow and working capital
Manufacturing & Inventory Management
• Track and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufactured products
• Calculate and monitor Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for both manufactured and resale items
• Maintain accurate inventory valuations and adjustments
• Analyze product profitability and margins
Monthly/Quarterly Reporting
• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
• Generate detailed sales reports by channel and product category
• Analyze business performance metrics and KPIs
• Assist with quarterly tax preparation and filings
System Management & Optimization
• Optimize A2X integration settings and mapping
• Maintain proper categorization of multi-channel transactions
• Implement and improve financial processes and controls
• Ensure compliance with e-commerce accounting best practices
Required Qualifications
Essential Experience
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably with e-commerce businesses
• Proven expertise with QuickBooks Online (certification preferred)
• Hands-on experience with A2X or similar e-commerce accounting connectors
• Strong knowledge of Shopify, Amazon, and eBay financial reporting
• Experience with manufacturing accounting, including BOMs and COGS calculations
• Solid understanding of inventory management and valuation methods
Technical Skills
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency
• Experience with multi-channel e-commerce accounting
• Knowledge of sales tax compliance across multiple states
• Understanding of automotive industry accounting (preferred)
• Familiarity with manufacturing cost accounting principles
Professional Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or relevant professional certification (strongly preferred)
• Experience with small business financial management
• Knowledge of tax implications for e-commerce and manufacturing businesses

Project Scope & Expectations
Initial Phase (First 2-3 months)
• Clean up and organize existing QuickBooks data
• Optimize A2X connector settings and historical imports
• Establish proper chart of accounts and categorization
• Implement monthly closing procedures
Ongoing Responsibilities
• Monthly financial close within 10 business days
• Weekly cash flow monitoring and reporting
• Quarterly business performance analysis
• Annual tax preparation support
