Chem Lab Prep & Support

Job ID: 40301232

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I’m looking for a meticulous laboratory technician who can take full ownership of the preparation phase of our secondary-school chemistry practicals. Your main focus will be getting every experiment ready to run: weighing out reagents, mixing stock solutions, laying out glassware, and double-checking that the risk assessments and safety data sheets match what the class will actually do.

Beyond that core duty, I’ll rely on you to keep the lab in perfect working order. This includes:

• Organising and clearly labelling all chemicals so teachers and students can find what they need in seconds.
• Cleaning, calibrating, and logging routine maintenance for balances, pH meters, hot plates, and any other instruments scheduled for use.
• Updating the digital inventory and experiment sheets in Word so we always know what consumables to reorder.

Because the room is used nonstop, sound chemical-handling habits and strict adherence to safety protocols are non-negotiable. You should be confident with PPE requirements, spill procedures, and standard first-aid measures, as well as experienced in mixing and preparing solutions and using common laboratory instruments.

Acceptance criteria
1. Experiment trays prepared and signed off 24 hours before each lesson.
2. Chemical inventory spreadsheet current to within one week.
3. All instruments show calibration stickers dated within the last month.
4. No safety violations recorded during random spot checks.

If you’re organised, safety-minded, and comfortable supporting teachers and students in a busy lab, I’d love to work with you.
