WordPress Multi-Vendor Bookkeeping Bridge Plugin
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We are seeking an experienced WordPress plugin developer or team to build WP Books Bridge—a modular, extensible plugin that connects WordPress with leading cloud-based bookkeeping and finance platforms (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, MYOB, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, PayPal, Stripe Billing, Wave).
The plugin will enable seamless, real-time retrieval and management of invoices, payments, and other financial data, supporting multi-vendor workflows, white-label/partner deployments, and robust automation. Security, compliance, and scalability are top priorities.
Warranty:
I am seeking a 180 day warranty for bug fixes (not new features). Please include 180 days warranty in your bid. I am not interested in a shorter warranty followed by paid support.
Architectural Approach:
- Schema-driven, adapter-agnostic core: All business logic, workflow, validation, normalization, RBAC, and CRUD operations are handled by the core plugin using canonical schemas and metadata.
- Vendor adapters/modules supply schemas, field mappings, validation rules, and capability declarations as structured metadata.
- Adapters are plug-and-play: adding a new vendor/adapter requires no changes to the core, provided the adapter conforms to the documented interface and metadata structure.
- Adapters only perform vendor-specific operations (API calls, authentication, field mapping, error handling, webhooks, etc.).
- For custom validation beyond standard rules, adapters provide callback functions in their metadata.
- Modular, extensible, and secure: Each vendor is implemented as a separate module/adapter.
- All sensitive data is handled securely; no sensitive financial data is stored in WordPress.
- The plugin supports hooks, filters, and REST API endpoints for custom workflows and third-party extensions.
- All operations are optimized for performance and scalability, including background processing for long-running tasks.
Major Features:
- Multi-vendor integration: Connect and manage multiple bookkeeping platforms simultaneously.
- Real-time data retrieval: Fetch and display vendor data on demand, with minimal local storage.
- Canonical data schemas: Normalize all vendor data to a consistent structure for reporting, automation, and UI.
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Granular, capability-based permissions for all features and data points.
- Reporting & Analytics: Filterable, exportable reports (CSV/Excel) for all data points, accessible via UI and REST API.
- Automation & Scheduled Tasks: Scheduled sync, notifications, report generation, and workflow triggers.
- Notifications & Webhooks: Configurable notifications and webhooks for all major events.
- REST API: Full API coverage for all core features, with extensibility for custom endpoints.
- White-label & Partner Branding: Support for custom branding and licensing tiers.
- Developer Extensibility: Comprehensive hooks, filters, and documented extension points for custom modules and workflows.
- Accessibility & Internationalization: WCAG 2.1 AA compliance and full i18n support.
Ideal Candidate / Team Skillset:
- Expertise in WordPress plugin development (PHP, React, REST API, WP coding standards)
- Experience with financial APIs (QuickBooks, Xero, Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
- Strong understanding of modular/plugin architectures and schema-driven design
- Security best practices for handling credentials and sensitive data
- Experience with RBAC, automation, and reporting in WordPress
- Familiarity with Composer, PSR-4 autoloading, and automated testing (PHPUnit, Jest)
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Bonus: Experience with white-label SaaS, multi-site, or agency/enterprise plugin deployments
To Apply:
- Provide relevant WordPress plugin portfolio/examples (especially integrations or financial/enterprise plugins)
- Brief outline of your approach to this project
- Estimated timeline and budget
- Any questions or suggestions for improving the project scope
