Quickbooks COGS Report
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Our company is an industrial supply distributor that uses QB for quotes, purchases, invoicing/billing, etc. The company has B2B distribution as well as e-commerce. Many of our e-commerce orders end up being drop shipped to the customer directly from the manufacturer’s facilities. We were instructed by a CPA to treat those items as non-inventory since they were never physically passing through our facility. When we made that change we were no longer able to track COGS in the ‘Sales – by Item Summary’ report.
Is there a report (or easy way) to figure out the COGS for the e-commerce transactions that are drop shipped? We do use Class to distinguish between B2B and e-commerce sales. However, purchases for B2B and e-commerce are aggregated at the manufacturer and thus the bills end up being a mix of B2B items/products that were ordered and physically came to our facility as well as items/products that were drop shipped directly to customers. Our margins are very sensitive and we want to make sure we are getting the correct COGS number for our e-commerce division as we evaluate financials
