Monthly College Magazine Feature Writer

Job ID: 40471391

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I publish a private-college magazine that reaches more than 20,000 print and digital readers each month. For every issue I need a lively, conversational feature (roughly 1,200–1,500 words) that spotlights a high-impact campus figure—typically a faculty member or a senior executive involved in major building plans—whose work clearly adds value to student attraction and retention.

Here is what the assignment involves each month:

• Identify and secure one standout subject from a private college or university.
• Conduct primary interviews with that individual plus two or three colleagues or stakeholders who can speak to their impact.
• Request or shoot high-resolution photos, including one image suitable for the magazine cover.
• Write the story in an engaging, conversational tone that highlights concrete benefits the subject brings to the campus community.
• Deliver clean copy, captions, and image credits.
• Supply contact details and a short synopsis for the next two months’ features so our design team can plan ahead.

Standard file delivery is Word or Google Docs for text and JPEG or TIFF for images; please flag any photo permissions. Content must be original and press-ready on or before the 20th of each month.

If you have a knack for drawing out compelling human stories in higher-education settings and can keep a three-month pipeline humming, I’m eager to see recent magazine work that shows both strong interviewing and narrative skills.
