Life Story Interview

Job ID: 40478746

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I'm looking for someone to interview my aunt about her life. The final product should be clear audio recordings with transcriptions (something like lightly cleaned up Zoom transcriptions are fine - perfectly polished transcripts are not necessary). We are hoping to capture her life story and the many beautiful lessons she has. She has a way of describing things that engages and inspires. It has been too difficult for her to write. I wish I would have recorded our stories over the years but now time is limited and I am not able to give her the time she deserves to dig deep and reflect.

Key Topics:
- Childhood and early years, living under Franco's rule in Spain - experiences with her family, country, and meeting her husband, and then moving to the USA
- Family and personal relationships
- Life in America, including motherhood, careers, advocacy work, life lessons, etc.

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Experience with interviews
- Access to Zoom or other audio recording with built-in transcription
- Ability to do light editing of transcripts so the speaker is clear and details aren't missed
- Ability to conduct engaging conversations
- Ability to speak Spanish and English a plus (my Aunt speaks English very well but she enjoys speaking Spanish)
- Ability to elicit pride about one's story
- Ability to schedule meets based on Central Daylight time
- Ability to be respectful and maintain strict confidentiality
- Podcast style interview may be cool
- I am thinking that this project would be 1-3 hours per week for 5-10 weeks, really as long as it takes to capture her incredible life and detailed descriptions of her experiences.
-Respectful, encouraging, and ability to keep all information received confidential.
