You can choose a piece of satire that is a short story, a poem, a TV show or movie (or clips from a show/movie), a comic strip or cartoon drawing, a YouTube video, or a song.

Some well-known examples of satire that you can use are the following:

Do some research to see what other famous examples of satire you can find
Once you have found your example of satire, begin your pre-writing of rhetorically analyzing it by answering the following questions:

What is the context for this satire? (How is it relevant to its time period?)

What kind of credibility or authority does the creator/writer/speaker have?

Pathos

What kind of emotional appeal does the piece have for its audience?
How does the creator establish an emotional or relatable connection with the audience?
Logos

What kind of logical appeal does the creator/writer/speaker establish?
How does the creator establish a sense of logic and evidence in that piece of satire?
Overall conclusions

What are the biggest strengths, rhetorically speaking, in this piece of satire?
What are some weakness in this piece of satire, and how could they be better?
