Simulate the IoT network
Budget: $10 – $30 CAD
Problem statement:
Covid-19 is an emerging problem these days. Although many measures have been put into action for minimising its impact, but all these measures require human intervention for proper working. Some of the safety initiatives introduced by government includes wearing face masks in public as it reduces the chances of transmitting covid, exclusion or cancellation of huge gatherings or temperature check. The overcrowding of a place may lead to aggravation in the spread of the respiratory diseases such as Covid-19. However, all these measures are supervised by humans. This involves extra efforts and workforce. The need of the hour is the automation of this process so that this task can be done with more precision and the safety of people are not compromised at all. The solution to this problem is the introduction of an IoT based smart camera that has sensors attached to it that gets notified whenever the number of people at a particular place exceeds more than allowed limit.
Project Goal:
In this project an IoT enabled smart camera is used to detect the presence of a visitor at the door by sensing and notifying every time the door is opened. This opening of door is considered as entry of one visitor. Once the number of times the sensor senses the movement as well the opening of the door exceeds the maximum specified limit of the number of persons allowed inside the building, a notification is sent. Also, a red light is displayed in front of the door depicting that the entry is closed. This light then turns green only when a visitor leaves the place and there are less people inside the place than specified by the authorities. The working of the sensors can be controlled using a web application. The user can decide the room for which the smart camera needs to be enabled along with the associated sensors.
