Spring 2022 Stock Portfolio Project
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
What I am looking for is not a finished project, In a sense, a rough draft is all that is required. In this investment project addition, each student will create and maintain a stock portfolio consisting of 10
companies during the semester. To create this portfolio, they need to use the internet and study the performance
of various public companies and select the 10 best companies in the market (make sure that you need to
select a mixture of small, medium, and large corporations). After selecting these 10 companies,
hypothetically you will invest approximately one million dollars on the shares of those selected companies
(about $100,000 per company = Price per share x no. of shares). Each student will then observe the weekly
performance of their portfolio and report their final results in a formal portfolio report.
The final report will include:
a. An introduction: the objectives of this term project.
b. Description of each company chosen (fundamentals: what does the company do?),
c. The rationale for why that company was chosen,
d. The financial statements for each company, and
e. The appropriate graphical representations of the progress/results of their portfolios.
In addition, the portfolios should include a conclusion page consisting of the following information
1. The rate of return of each company as well as the rate of return of your portfolio.
2. Make sure to explain the gain (loss) and why.
3. Lesson(s), if any, you have learned from doing this term project.
4. If you are doing this assignment again, what would you do differently to increase the rate of return
of your investment portfolio?
