# Interior Designer Needed to Pull Together Retail Shop Fit-Out Concept for Technology Stores
We are looking for an experienced interior designer or retail concept designer to help us pull together a complete shop fit-out concept for our growing technology retail stores.
We already have a detailed written design brief covering materials, fixtures, product displays, shopfront, lighting, workshop areas, consultation areas and brand display ideas. We now need a designer to bring this together into one clear, cohesive interior design direction that can then be handed to our draftsperson for technical drawings.
This is not just a decorating job. We need someone who can understand the commercial intent of the store, improve the look and feel, simplify the ideas where needed, and create a consistent design language across the whole shop.
## About the Stores
Our stores are generally 50m² to 80m².
They include:
* Retail product displays
* Modular wall fixtures
* Service counter
* Consultation tables
* Refurbished device displays
* Visible but clean workshop cues
* Workshop parts storage
* Tech accessories
* Private-label brand displays
* Shopfront and signage
We are a technology help and repair business, but we do not want the stores to feel like a cheap phone repair kiosk. The goal is to feel premium, practical, bright, organised, technically capable and approachable.
## What We Need
We need an interior designer to review our design brief and help create a cohesive design concept that our draftsperson can work from.
This may include:
* Overall interior design direction
* Colour palette
* Material palette
* Shopfront design direction
* Wall fixture design language
* Consultation area look and feel
* Service counter look and feel
* Workshop visibility and presentation
* Flooring and lighting guidance
* How to use perforated metal, white laminate and wood-look laminate consistently
* How to make the store feel premium without overspending
* How to make the private-label brand displays feel different but still part of the same store
* How to simplify the design so it is repeatable across multiple stores
* Design notes or sketches that can be handed to our draftsperson
## Existing Design Direction
The current preferred direction includes:
* Warm white laminate
* Wood-look laminate
* Matte black perforated metal
* Matte black trims and kickboards
* Integrated LED lighting within fixtures
* 4000K bright neutral lighting
* Light wood-look PVC loose lay flooring in customer areas
* Black/charcoal flooring in workshop areas where appropriate
* Clear, bright, organised product displays
* Modular wall fixtures in 600mm, 900mm and 1200mm widths
* Product-specific displays for our private-label brands
* Consultation tables that feel approachable and premium
* A clean visible workshop signal, not a messy back-room repair cave
A detailed written design brief will be provided for viewing.
## Key Challenge
The challenge is that we have a lot of product ranges and ideas. We need someone to make the whole thing feel like one consistent store concept.
The final design should not feel cluttered or over-designed.
It should feel:
* Premium but cost-conscious
* Bright
* Clean
* Warm
* Technical
* Trustworthy
* Practical
* Modular
* Repeatable
* Commercially realistic
## Deliverables
We are open to your recommended approach, but useful deliverables may include:
* Interior design concept document
* Mood board
* Colour and material palette
* Fixture design direction
* Shopfront design direction
* Example wall display treatments
* Retail zoning guidance
* Notes for the draftsperson
* Simple sketches or visual references
* Optional basic 3D concept views if you offer them
We do not necessarily need full technical drawings from you. We mainly need the design thinking, look and feel, material direction and concept pulled together so our draftsperson can produce the final drawings.
## Experience Required
Please apply only if you have experience with at least some of the following:
* Retail interiors
* Shop fit-outs
* Commercial interiors
* Product display design
* Modular fixture systems
* Joinery design direction
* Signage and branding integration
* Small-format retail stores
* Cost-conscious commercial design
Technology retail experience would be helpful, but not essential.
## Application Requirement
To prove you have read this post and reviewed the attached design brief, please include the code word:
KINGFIT-2420
in the first line of your application.
Please also include:
* Examples of relevant retail or commercial interior design work
* How you would approach this project
* Whether you can provide mood boards, design direction, sketches or 3D concept views
* Your estimated timeframe
* What information you would need from us to begin
Applications that do not include the code word may be ignored.
