Freelance Electrical Engineer Needed (UK Only)

Electrical Engineer – Adhoc / Freelance Support (UK based only- Fully Remote)

Location: Remote, with occasional site/workshop support if required
Engagement: Freelance / Part-time / As needed

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support our engineering team on an adhoc freelance basis. The role will involve assisting with electrical design, technical reviews, documentation, troubleshooting, and project support as and when required.

The ideal candidate should be flexible, responsive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Scope of Work

The freelancer may be required to support with:

Electrical design reviews and technical input
Preparation and review of electrical drawings
Single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
Electrical load calculations
Power distribution and control panel design support
Instrumentation and control interface checks
Motor, pump, heater, lighting, and control system electrical requirements
Review of vendor electrical documentation
Preparation of technical datasheets and specifications
Support with hazardous area electrical requirements, where applicable
Troubleshooting and technical advice during fabrication, installation, or commissioning
Compliance checks against relevant standards and project specifications
Required Experience

The candidate should have experience in some or all of the following:

Electrical engineering for industrial, process, oil & gas, manufacturing, or equipment packages
Low-voltage electrical systems
Control panels, MCCs, VFDs, motors, instrumentation wiring, and earthing
Electrical drawings and documentation
Working with international standards such as IEC, BS, ATEX, UKCA, CE, or similar
Hazardous area electrical design experience would be an advantage
Experience with packaged equipment, pressure vessels, skids, scrubbers, separators, or process equipment would be beneficial
Software Skills


Depending on the task, deliverables may include:

Reviewed electrical drawings
Electrical design calculations
Cable schedules
Equipment electrical datasheets
Technical comments on vendor documents
Marked-up drawings
Short technical reports
Electrical input for proposals or project documents
Candidate Requirements

The freelancer should be:

Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Able to provide practical engineering advice
Familiar with industrial electrical systems
Able to work to deadlines
Clear in communication
Available for adhoc tasks when required
Comfortable working remotely with email, Teams/Zoom, and shared documents
