Instructional Designer – Life & Health Insurance Pre-Licensing Course

About Us:
We are building a cutting-edge pre-licensing education platform for Life & Health insurance professionals, starting with Florida and rapidly expanding to all 50 states. Our goal is to create the most engaging, effective, and user-friendly pre-licensing learning experience in the industry. With the course curriculum already outlined and our Learning Management System (LMS) ready to go, we’re looking for the right Instructional Designer to bring it all to life.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to design, develop, and implement our Florida Life & Health Insurance pre-licensing course within our LMS. This position is initially project-based with the intent to expand into a full-time role as we scale nationally. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design for self-study programs, experience writing self-study exams, and a proven track record of building engaging, learner-friendly content.
Responsibilities:
- Transform our written course curriculum into a fully interactive, learner-centered LMS experience.
- Develop assessments, quizzes, and self-study exams that align with Florida pre-licensing requirements.
- Ensure course design meets regulatory and compliance standards.
- Apply instructional design best practices to optimize content for engagement, retention, and ease of use.
- Collaborate with our internal team to maintain consistency of branding, tone, and design standards.
- Provide recommendations for scalable course design to support expansion into all 50 states.
Required Qualifications (documentation will be required):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Instructional Design, Program Development, Educational Technology, or a closely related field.
- Documented experience and ability in writing self-study exams.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of Self-Study programs (does not include textbook authorship alone).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with insurance or financial services education.
- Familiarity with compliance-driven training programs.
- Proficiency in LMS platforms and eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, etc.).
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and online learning methodologies.
