Companion Workbook Design for Nonfiction Self-Help Book
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Project Overview:
I have a completed nonfiction self-help book (~200 pages). I want to create a companion workbook to accompany the book. The content is already written. Your job is to:
Transform the material into workbook format (reflection prompts, exercises, lined writing space, checklists, etc.)
Keep my author voice and style intact (no rewriting my book).
Provide clean, professional, reader-friendly design suitable for both print and digital (fillable PDF).
Deliverables:
Print-ready PDF (8.5x11 or 8x10 format)
Fillable PDF version for digital use
Source files (InDesign, Canva, or Word—so I can update in the future)
Branded, professional layout consistent with my book’s style
What I Provide:
Full manuscript of the book
Notes on where I’d like prompts/exercises added
Brand colors, fonts, and cover design (if relevant)
Expectations:
Initial sample/mockup of 1–2 chapters for approval before completing the full project
Unlimited minor revisions within reason
Clear communication and regular check-ins
Creative suggestions welcome, but final creative control stays with me
Budget:
Core/depending on experience and scope (including both design and workbook development).
Timeline:
Target completion within 4–6 weeks.
Ideal Freelancer/Designer:
Experienced in workbook/guide/journal design (please show samples)
Understands nonfiction/self-help/educational publishing
Strong layout skills (spacing, fonts, readability, interactivity)
Bonus if you can also suggest or implement workbook marketing materials (social graphics, mockups, etc.)
To Apply, Please Share:
Relevant samples of workbooks, journals, or similar projects you’ve designed.
Your proposed process and timeline.
A flat-rate price quote within my budget.
Confirmation that you will provide source files.
