Budget: $10,000 – $20,000 USD
I'm seeking an experienced curriculum developer to create comprehensive lesson plans for K-12 African American History. The curriculum should be engaging, informative, and suitable for all grade levels.
Requirements:
- Develop age-appropriate, standards-aligned lesson plans for K-12
- Incorporate diverse perspectives and critical thinking
- Include assessments and teaching resources
Ideal Skills & Experience:
- Expertise in K-12 education and curriculum design
- Strong knowledge of African American history
- Experience with educational standards and diverse learning needs
- Excellent writing and organizational skills
The consultant will design and develop educator-facing instructional resources for publication on
the Amistad Commission’s online resource website. These materials will support educators in
integrating African American history and African diaspora history into classroom instruction.
Instructional resources will align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Social
Studies and reflect key thematic areas represented in the Amistad instructional framework,
including African diaspora connections, cultural expression, civic participation, and Black
leadership in movements for social change.
This project supports the mission of the Amistad Commission and the requirements established
under the Amistad Commission Act, which mandates the integration of African American history
throughout the state’s K–12 curriculum. By expanding the Commission’s instructional resource
website, this work will provide educators with accessible materials that strengthen the teaching
of African American history across New Jersey schools.
